The evergreen tree, which was believed by many ancient cultures of the Northern Hemisphere to repel evil spirits, is today a reminder that the dry winter season will pass and summer will come again.

Some consider that decorating a Christmas tree marks the beginning of the holiday season. “Everyone has different tastes for their own Christmas,” wrote Tracy Martin in her book, Christmas Collectibles. “The artificial trees of today are extremely realistic and come in all shapes and sizes. You can choose between more traditional ones with pine cones to white trees, and even black was a fashion must-have a few years ago.”
